Marylands Weinland erstreckt sich über verschiedene Regionen: Ostküste, die südliche Ebene, die Berge im Westen und das Piedmont Plateau. Letzteres ist Standort der meisten staatlichen Weingüter.
Klima und Bodenbeschaffenheit sind hier sehr unterschiedlich, und so bringt jede Region Reben mit eigenem, typischen Geschmack hervor: Hier entstehen in mehr als 80 Weingütern über 400 verschiedene Weine. Die relativ junge Weinindustrie des Staates wächst rapide, jedes Jahr entstehen weitere Kellereien.
