1. Tag: Historische Außenposten, Kirchen und Wohnhäuser

Port Tobacco

Port Tobacco war ein missionarischer Außenposten, gegründet von einem ursprünglichen Jesuiten-Siedler der Kolonie.

Christ Church-Durham Parish

Zurückgehend auf 1692,  wurde eine der 30 Ursprungsgemeinden der Kirche von England in Maryland gegründet.

Smallwood State Park

Der Besitz von General William Smallwood, ein Held aus dem Revolutionskrieg und 4. Gouverneur von Maryland, ist das Herzstück des Parks, der auch eine Marina besitzt.

Myrtle Grove Wildlife Management Area

Bietet Jagen, Fischen und Wandern an einem 9,3 Hektar großen See.

2. Tag: Die Geburtsstunde von „Trennung von Kirche und Staat“Mt. CarmelOrt des ersten Nonnenklosters der  Kolonien, gegründet 1790.

St. Ignatius Catholic Church and St.Thomas Manor

Die 1641 gegründete Kirche war länger aktiv als jede andere Gemeinde im Land. Das ein Jahrhundert später erbaute Herrenhaus ist die älteste dauerhaft betriebene Jesuiten-Residenz der Welt.

St. Clement’s Island & Museum

Die erste katholische Messe in den britisch-amerkanischen Kolonien fand hier statt. Heute ist die Insel ein 16 Hektar großer Staatspark, wo ein 12 Meter hohes Kreuz diejenigen unter den ersten Siedlern ehrt, die 1634 die Trennung von Kirche und Staat konzipierten.

3. Tag: Denkmäler und heilige Stätten

St. Francis Xavier Church

Die älteste römisch-katholische Kirche im Staat, von der man annimmt, dass sie in ihrer jetzigen Form 1767 erbaut wurde.

St. George’s Episcopal Church in Valley Lee

Die älteste bischöfliche Gemeinde in Maryland,  St. Georg hält seit 1638 Gottesdienste ab.

Historic St. Mary’s City

Marylands Hauptstadt von 1634 bis 1695 war die vierte dauerhafte englische Siedlung in Amerika und Ort der ersten katholischen Kapelle in den Kolonien.

Freedom of Conscience Monument

Das Monument gedenkt einem Gesetz, das 1649 die Generalversammlung von Maryland passierte und  die religiöse Tolerierung aller Trinitarier verfügte.

Point Lookout State Park

bietet Strände, Bootsbetrieb, Angelbereiche und Campingplätze. Im Bürgerkrieg war Point Lookout ein berüchtigtes Gefangenenlager, in dem über 4.000 konföderierte Soldaten starben.
